Homebuyers preferring a more rustic environment than the Stone Ridge-High Falls area can move just a bit south to Accord and Kerhonkson, which still places them close to Minnewaska State Park and even a bit further south to Sam’s Point Preserve. Nature lovers can be found flocking to the area, with access to New Paltz as well.
But what really put Kerhonkson on the map recently was a subdivision, deep in the woods, of high-end homes called Hudson Woods. All 25 lots were sold out, proving there was a big demand for upscale modern, newly-constructed homes with wooded seclusion.
Kerhonskon gives a homebuyer the same kind of seclusion that its adjoining town, Olive, does further north. It boasts large tracts of privately-owned land, plenty of farmland (and farmstands), car-racing (the Accord Speedway), and even a dude ranch.
Where else are could you have found the world’s largest garden gnome, at Kelder’s Farm and called Gnome Chomsky, until that is it was superseded by two ginormous gnomes recently? Kerhonkson, that’s where.
